Are the new Kardashian apps deadly or a load of nonsense? We had a look

What exactly are you paying for?

EARLIER THIS WEEK, the entire Kardashian Klan announced that they were releasing new individual apps.

Kim, Khloe, Kylie and Kendall assembled in New York on Monday to debut the apps, which are said to offer “unprecedented and exclusive personal access” to the lives of each sister.

Each app costs $2.99 (€2.65) a month. That would equate to a hefty bill of $11.96 (or €10.58) per month if you were to purchase all four apps.

But what exactly are you paying for?

We took a look.

Each sister has her own website as well as an app.

On the website, you can read certain articles for free, while other articles are only accessible to those who have forked over the $2.99 monthly fee.

For example, on Kim Kardashian’s website, a breakdown on one of her recent outfits (“Dissecting My Look: Foxy in Fur”) is available to read for free, while you have to pay to “unlock” an article about how to “get North’s look”.

Given that it’s hidden behind a paywall, you might expect Kim to offer a detailed, comprehensive insight into how you can emulate her two-year old daughter’s look.

Instead, it’s just a 64-word piece listing what North was wearing one day. We’re told that North “loves wearing oversized clothes” and likes to wear her sweatshirt around the house because it’s “comfy”. (Or, you know, because she’s a toddler.)

$2.99, people.

Over on her sister Khloe’s website, it’s a similar tale.

An article entitled “My Must-Haves for XXL Lashes” is free to view and contains a list of (very reasonably priced, in fairness) products to enhance your eyelashes.

A guide having a girls’ night in, however, can only be accessed once you hand over that $2.99 subscription fee. Should you decide to part with that money, Khloe will reveal that, wait for it, popcorn and DVDs are good for a girls’ night in.

Then there is Kendall Jenner’s app/website.

It’s split into four sections — Model, Style, Travel and Life — and offers a sneak peak into Jenner’s life as a model.

We’re treated to photos of her favourite outfits (“Short shorts + tall boots = life”) and we’re told that her favourite coffee table book is, er, a book of Vogue covers.

My book of vintage Vogue covers is so inspiring!

Unfortunately, if you want to find out exactly what makes this coffee table book is so inspiring, you’re going to have to cough up the cash.

According to TMZ, Kylie Jenner’s app has proved the most popular. 891,340 signed up to the sites within 24 hours, 74% of which belonged to Kylie.

The 18-year-old’s app features make-up tutorials and a confessional section entitled “No Filter” in which Kylie sounds off on what it’s like to be a teenager in the public eye.

The quality of the content is consistent with what’s available on the other apps.

One piece not hidden behind a paywall sees Kylie outline her obsession with her fingernails. “It’s actually crazy how much I love my nails,” she writes.

And then there’s just a few photos of her fingernails.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fair play, we guess.

So, what do people make of the apps so far?

Some people are totally on board.

While others aren’t quite sure it’s worth it.

So now.

Everything you need to know before you hand over that €2.65.
